Tianjin Tanggu Breakwater Vibro-driving PHC Pipe Pile Project
The original design plan considered using diesel hammers or hydraulic impact hammers for driving the piles. However, without a pile frame to assist, it would be difficult to ensure verticality. Additionally, since the water area is very close to the shore and relatively shallow, using a floating crane for construction would risk grounding. Therefore, after comprehensive consideration, a non-resonant electric hammer with a large eccentric moment was selected for the construction.
The non-resonant electric hammer features a large eccentric moment, heavy weight, and low frequency, making it highly suitable for driving large-diameter precast piles (PHC) like these. As a vibratory hammer has the capability to extract piles, it allows for timely correction of pile verticality by extracting and repositioning the pile if it deviates during driving.
Furthermore, because it is a non-resonant hammer, its start-up and shutdown processes do not generate resonance, effectively protecting the pile head of the concrete piles and minimizing the occurrence of damage.
The use of the EP270 hammer in this project significantly reduced construction time and enabled highly efficient and complete pile driving operations.
