Abuqir Container Terminal in Egypt

The Abuqir Container Terminal Piling Project is situated within the Abuqir Port, located 30 kilometers east of Alexandria, Egypt's second-largest city. The overall project comprises dredging and reclamation, the terminal structure, revetments, breakwaters, roads, storage yards, water and electricity networks, buildings, and related ancillary facilities. The main construction area is adjacent to the Mediterranean coast.

The terminal has a total length of 1,270.6 meters, and its structural design adopts a steel pipe-sheet pile composite wall system. This system involves 507 steel pipe piles and 2,707 steel sheet piles. The project is characterized by a tight schedule, a large number of piles, high precision requirements, challenging pile-driving conditions, as well as complex climate and geological conditions.

The construction methodology utilized an MZ-300L vibratory hammer in conjunction with an MC-30 impact hammer. The vibratory hammer was primarily used for driving the initial positioning piles, while the impact hammer was then employed to drive the piles to their final designated depth.
